    Business Information
Shelf Life Details Both the Part A and Part B components are of CONATHANE® UC-40 moisture sensitive. Avoid the use of paper cups and wooden sticks. Unless the contents are used within one day, we recommend flushing with dry nitrogen or CONAP® Dri-Purge each time the containers are closed.;Part A and Part B have a shelf life of 18 months from date of manufacture when stored in their original, unopened containers at 65º-85ºF., Store at 20 - 30°C / 68 - 86°F in a dry controlled environment out of direct sunlight. This material should be suitable for use stored under these conditions in the original sealed containers for twelve (12) months from the date of shipment.

    1. Application

When casting, pour in a steady stream in one spot at a rate that avoids overlapping or enfolding air. To improve flowability, preheat parts to be cast to 50-60ºC (120-140ºF). CAUTION: Work life of material will decrease.

Some urethane prepolymers or hardeners may freeze or crystallize below 18ºC(65ºf). They may be re-liquefied by heating to 50-60ºC (120-140ºF). Avoid prolonged preheating. After heating, blend thoroughly.

If parts are to be demolded, a quality mold release, such as CONAP® MR-5002 or MR-5012 should be applied prior to pouring.

CONATHANE® UC-40 has very good adhesion to most substrates and generally will not require the use of a primer. If adhesion improvement is necessary, contact Cytec for specific recommendations. If the cast part is to be demolded after cure, apply a CONAP® mold release agent prior to casting. Castings can generally be demolded in 6 hours at room temperature.

    2. Mixing

Mix individual components thoroughly before use.

Mix the UC-40 Part A and UC-40 Part B in the ratio specified above until homogeneous. Components may be preheated up to 60°C if reduced viscosity is required. If hand mixing, degas at >27 in. Hg vacuum before use.

    3. Curing

      Cure 7 days at 25°C / 77°F – or – 16 hours at 80°C / 176°F

      Demold time of 6 hours at 25°C / 77°F – or – 2 hours at 80°C / 176°F

The cure schedules are based on time after the unit reaches the specified temperature and are recommendations only. The user is responsible for determining the optimum cure conditions for their application.

    4. Clean-Up

Equipment may be cleaned with Methyl Ethyl Ketone
